Music 'n' Brains featuring Fena Gitu

Today’s post is about an organization I’m intimately involved with, Music ‘n’ Brains.

Music ‘n’ Brains is an industry event for musicians and music business professionals to come together to learn from each other’s experiences, discover new music and make friends for their journeys ahead. See who we are, what we do, and why we do it here.

On the real, if you are starting/running a business, following the dream, going it alone or if you don’t really know what you’re doing, your best shot is to:

  1. Gather as much information as you can
  2. Surround yourself with the best of the best teammates, mentors, business partners, friends
  3. Use your vision as a guiding compass. Always.
  4. Trust your gut (like all our failed relationships have taught us, listen to your gut the first time around)

At Music ‘n’ Brains, we want to help with 1 and 2.

Our events are designed so that we learn first hand from the experiences of those who have gone before us and connect with them. Serendipity is a thing. The event series is actually inspired by a fireside chat we had with Marek Fuchs, CEO of Sauti Sol Entertainment

Fena Gitu is a musician, producer, songwriter, performer, founder and CEO of Fenamenal Entertainment. She co-produced her first album, Fenamenon, with the legend Jaaz Odongo and is currently working on a project with iLogos Music. She writes all her songs and has written for Sauti Sol, Miss Karun and Dela. She has performed on major stages like Coke Studio Africa, YouTube SSA Creators Awards, Koroga Festival and her own show Fena Unplugged.

Fenamenal Entertainment is the umbrella organisation for the music (#FenaNgomaZakoNiKali), fashion (#FenamenalStyle) and lifestyle (Denri, Nescafe, #JoziWithGoogle) factions. At our sit-down this Friday, September 1st, we will go deep into Fena’s career, then, now and what is to come.

This event is for you if you feel that there is not enough information out there about running your music business in the Kenyan context.

It is also for you if you need to expand your music industry network. That’s definitely how we feel and we are stepping up to fill that gap.

6.30PM – 9.00PM

Tickets 350/-

P.S. If you are a musician and would like your music to be included in our event day playlist, send us links to your music on Soundcloud. Afterwards, in the event wrap up, we will publish the playlist and include your bio and contact info. Go here.
